A hand to lend
Here at Smilessence, our main objective is to put the best possible smile we can on to the faces of each of our individual patients. Our expert dental practitioners and specialists are skilled in a number of disciplines and procedures and have extensive experience in both conventional and cosmetic dentistry solutions. Anyone who visits our dentist in Molesey, can do so safely in the knowledge that they will be treated with the highest possible level of respect, care and efficiency. One of the most popular forms of treatment that we provide here at Smilessence is dental realignment, through both discreet dental aligners and more traditional means.
Why undergo dental realignment
Having teeth which are crooked, overlapping or have spaces between them can often be the catalyst for a number of concerns and stresses for the patient, and cause them to seek out the help of our dentist in Molesey. Beneath the superficial, and perhaps more obvious problems that having misaligned teeth can have – (which are not to be overlooked, and can lead to serious mental health ramifications) – there are also a number of longer-term health ailments which can arise from poorly aligned teeth. One such health risk of having poorly aligned teeth is the increase in the likelihood of the patient contracting gingivitis or periodontal disease. Gingivitis is the precursor to periodontal disease, and is evident when the patient’s gums become red or inflamed. If this is left untreated, then it can cause periodontal disease to develop, which is also referred to as gum disease, as the gum and tooth root become infected and inflamed. This is the leading preventable cause of tooth loss in adults across the country, and something which is easily prevented through orthodontic treatment, as the gaps between a patient’s teeth are removed and as such there is less opportunity for bacteria to develop.
What are my orthodontic options?
At Smilessence we are a dentist in Molesey who provides their patients with a number of orthodontic options. We are a dentist who recognises that, whilst traditional orthodontics are effective in their duty, they are not the most discreet type of brace in the way that they impact on the appearance of those who seek them. This being the case, over the last few years there has been a steady rise in the amount of people opting for discreet alternatives such as subtle dental aligners like Invisalign. These operate without the need for fused brackets being attached to the patient’s teeth, as they are made entirely out of plastic and are removable dental retainers. Each of these retainers is made to fit perfectly over the patient’s teeth as they are constructed from an imprint of each patient’s tooth structure. As such, they fit perfectly over their teeth to the point they become almost invisible. As well as dental aligners, we also offer the Inman aligner system, which is an effective and swift way to correct poorly aligned teeth in as short a time as just one month. This is through means which are similar to conventional braces, although they are generally considered to be less noticeable from the outside, and far more comfortable.
